WBC EXPELS GARCIA AFTER SULAIMAN CONFIRMS PENALTY

The WBC expelled Garcia after the boxing governing body’s president Mauricio Sulaiman confirmed the penalty on Thursday.

“We reject any form of discrimination,” Sulaiman wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“I fear for Ryan’s well-being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse,” he added.

Sulaiman’s announcement came nearly two weeks after Garcia was suspended and fined after being tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Furthermore, the New York State Athletic Commission (NYAC) decided to suspend Garcia for a year.

Moreover, this made Garcia’s fight against Devin Haney (31-0-1, 15 KOs) on April 20 a no-contest.

GARCIA ISSUES APOLOGY ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Furthermore, Garcia issued an apology moments after the WBC made the decision.

“I was trolling. I want all the killing to stop,” Garcia said on X.

Moreover, the California native was arrested on felony vandalism charges last month.

“I love everyone, sorry if I offended you,” he added.

Incidentally, Garcia also claimed his innocence regarding the NYAC decision, saying that he never took a banned substance.

GARCIA’S FATHER, FAMILY RESPONDS TO BOXER’S ACTIONS

Furthermore, Garcia’s father, Henry Garcia expressed concern regarding his son’s drinking problem.

Moreover, Garcia’s family issued a statement, saying the boxer’s actions “do not align with his, or our family’s true character or beliefs.”

“Our family unequivocally does not support any statements (Garcia) has made regarding race or religion,” the family said.

“These do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised. Those who know Ryan can attest to this fact,” it added.

The family also acknowledged that Garcia was open regarding his “ongoing struggle with mental health over the years.”

The statement also assured that the family remains committed to giving Garcia the “necessary help to navigate this very challenging time.”
