SPENCE TO FIGHT FUNDORA IN EARLY 2025 AFTER CRAWFORD GIVES WAY
Expect Spence to challenger Fundora for the latter’s World Boxing Council (WBO) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) super welterweight title.
Furthermore, Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) will get his shot at Fundora’s two world titles in early 2025 in Arlington, Texas.
This became possible after interim WBO super welterweight king Terence Crawford gave way.
The WBO ordered Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) to defend his title against mandatory challengers and interim WBO super welterweight king Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).
However, Crawford agreed to step aside and allowed Fundora to take on former unified welterweight champion Spence.
A Fundora win over Spence will line him up for a showdown against Crawford later in 2025.
TYSON URGED ERROL TO FIGHT AGAIN AFTER CRAWFORD LOSS
Moreover, former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson urged Spence to fight again after the latter lost to Crawford.
Spence suffered a ninth-round technical knockout loss to Crawford in July last year and hasn’t fought since.
Furthermore, Tyson is convinced a single loss could diminish Spence’s potential in boxing.
“A loss to somebody like that means nothing. He (Spence) can still make a lot of money if he returns,” Tyson told the “Come And Talk To Me” podcast.
Talks were rife that Spence would look for a rematch against Crawford after the loss.
However, Spencer underwent cataract surgery, and he had to delay such plans.
CRAWFORD FUTURE UNCERTAIN WHILE HE WAITS FOR FUNDORA-SPENCE FIGHT
Furthermore, Crawford’s future remains uncertain as he waits for the Fundora-Spence fight to happen.
Moreover, questions arise as to whether Crawford will take another fight while waiting for the Fundora-Spence winner.
Crawford has made it known of his desire to fight Canelo Alvarez, who is not interested in fighting a smaller fighter at the moment.
Meanwhile, ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reported that Fundora and Spence “already struck a deal” to fight in “Texas in early 2025.”
Interestingly, three of Spencer’s last fight fights were held in Arlington, Texas.
