RYAN GARCIA SUSPENDED AFTER POSITIVE PED TESTS, SAYS NY COMMISSION

Garcia (24-1-1, 20 KOs) has been suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) for a year.

Furthermore, he has been penalized after he was listed as positive for PED tests for ostarine.

Additionally, the 25-year-old American boxer is claiming his fans “will always remember” his exploits.

Garcia’s team said the boxer’s majority decision win over Haney (31-0-1,15 KOs) on April 20 was a “masterclass.”

Interestingly, the commission said the suspension was retroactive to Garcia’s victory over Haney.

Moreover, the decision means the Garcia-Haney faceoff was ruled as a no-contest.

HANEY VINDICATED AFTER NYSAC’S DECISION, TO TAKE A YEAR OFF

Furthermore, the 25-year-old Haney was vindicated following the NYSAC’s decision, even as he is taking a year off the ring.

“I want to thank the commission and the fans who stood by me during this whole process. I’ll be back in one year,” Haney said.

“From now on, I’m fighting at whatever weight I choose. (I’m) no longer fighting in weight classes,” he added.

Meanwhile, Haney slammed Golden Boy Promotions, Garcia’s promoter, for getting back the USD1.1 million guaranteed contract purse for their recent fight.

Haney claimed the guaranteed purse Garcia is forfeiting should be split between, him the NYSAC, and WADA.

“(Golden Boy Promotions promoter) Oscar deal Hoya ain’t even paid me all my money, and they’re about to give him another USD1.1 million,” the California-born boxer said.

GARCIA’S TEAM CLAIMS INNOCENCE, SAYS BOXER NEVER TOOK BANNED SUBTANCE

Furthermore, Garcia’s team claimed innocence, saying the boxer had never taken a banned substance.

“Ryan, with his legal team, has resolved this issue and firmly maintains his truth: he never intentionally took any banned substance,” Team Garcia said in a statement.

“I’m innocent. I stand by that, I don’t care what everyone says,” Garcia himself added on social media.

Garcia is set to be reinstated on April 20, 2025, provided no banned substances will be found on his urine tests.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has included ostarine in its banned list since 2008.

The agency also listed ostarine as an anabolic agent in 2022.
