PACQUIAO VS BARRIOS A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY FOR ‘EL AZTECA’ TO LAY OUT BLUEPRINT TO WIN

The Pacquiao vs Barrios showdown should be a perfect opportunity for “El Azteca” to lay out his team’s blueprint for him to win.

What’s more, the 30-year-old American fighter expressed confidence that his gameplan will be enough to stun the eight-division champion from the Philippines at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Not only that, Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs) disclosed that timing always trumps speed, even if it’s the man known as “Pac-Man.”

“Timing always beats speed, and I have great timing,” “El Azteca” told The Ring on Monday.

“I have fast hands and fast feet, too. I just choose not to use it all the time,” he added.

‘EL AZTECA’ TO TAKE INPUTS FROM UGAS-PACQUIAO FIGHT, BARRIOS-UGAS BOUT VS ‘PAC-MAN’

“El Azteca” hinted at taking inputs from the Yordenis Ugas-Pacquiao fight, as well as his bout against the Cuban boxer.

Interestingly, Ugas laid out the strategy to beat the Filipino to a unanimous decision win in 2021.

However, the Cuban suffered two knockdowns against Ugas in losing to the latter in September 2023.

“Ugas gave a pretty nice blueprint on how to make it a very difficult fight for Manny,” Barrios said.

“My fight with Ugas went in a similar manner as when he beat Manny. I just have to do what I can from both fights,” he added.

‘PAC-MAN’ STYLE HARD TO REPLICATE, BARRIOS ADMITS

However, Barrios admitted that hiring a sparring partner to replicate Pacquiao’s (62-8-2, 39 KOs) fighting style is hard to replicate.

Likewise, the San Antonio native assured that he admires “his opponent “Pac-Man but doesn’t want to “show him too much respect.” during the fight.

Nonetheless, his team is fully aware that Pacquiao’s hand speed and movement remain as the Filipino’s strong points despite his age.

“Manny’s movement and hand speed are looking on point right now. That’s what has always made him a great fighter,” Barrios said.

“He doesn’t have an easy style to replicate, and that can make sparring tricky,” he added.
