INOUE TO DEFEND UNDISPUTED WORLD TITLE BELTS VS DOHENY IN TOKYO

Inoue is set to defend his undisputed world title belts against Doheny at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

The boxer also known as “Monster” announced his next official fight on Tuesday.

Furthermore, this will be the second fight for Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs) this year.

The Japanese superstar posted a sixth-round knockout win over Mexican Luis Nery at the Tokyo Dome on May 6.

Moreover, Inoue vows to top his recent performance at the Tokyo Dome, the same venue where underdog James “Buster” Douglas upset then undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in February 1990.

“Being able to fight at the Tokyo Dome was a special match for me in my career as a boxer,” Inoue said.

“I feel that I have to surpass that performance with this next fight,” he added.

INOUE TO DEFEND ALL FOUR BELTS DESPITE WBA MANDATORY DEFENSE VS AKHMADALIEV

Moreover, Inoue will stake all of his world title belts.

The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently ordered Inoue for a mandatory defense against Murodjon Akhmadaliev.

Furthermore, Inoue is not looking past Doheny (26-4, 20 KOs).

The Irishman is coming off a victory over Bryl Bayagos of the Philippines in that May fight.

“Doheny has had some really good fights recently and I don’t want to take my eye off the ball,” Inoue said.

“He has knocked out boxers who I have sparred with, and he can produce the goods in his fights,” he added.

Interestingly, Doheny is no stranger to fighting in Japan.

Additionally, the 37-year-old displayed his skills in Tokyo thrice.

‘MONSTER’ A GENERATIONAL TALENT THE WORLD NEEDS TO STOP AND WATCH, SAYS ARUM

Furthermore, the “Monster” is a generational talent the world needs to stop and watch, said Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

Arum described Doheny as a veteran who “can never be counted out.”

“Naoya Inoue is a generational talent, and every time he fights, the boxing world stops to watch the master at work,” Arum said.

“He (Doheny) has defied the odds many times when fighting in Japan,” he added.

On the other hand, the Inoue-Doheny fight will be streamed live in the US on ESPN+.

Meanwhile, WBO bantamweight world champion Yoshiki Takei (9-0, 8 KOs) will stake his title against Daigo Higa (21-2-1, 19 KOs).
