Joshua prepares for ‘undisputed fight’ with Ngannou
Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua said he is not taking MMA veteran Francis Ngannou lightly.
Blockbuster match
The crossover boxing match between Joshua and Ngannou will take place on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.
The winner of the March 8 bout will face the victor of the upcoming clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Regardless of the Fury-Usyk outcome, the British fighter is focusing on his match with Ngannou.
‘Undisputed fight’
“Let me say this again, I’m not focusing on [facing the Fury-Usyk winner],” Joshua said to The MMA Hour.
The 34-year-old Joshua treats the former UFC Heavyweight champion with utmost respect.
“I’m going to take my mind, I have to draw it back that Ngannou is my undisputed title fight,” he said.
“Because you’re only as good as your last fight, and I respect him a lot.”
Ngannou made his pro debut last October and tested Fury’s limits in a ten-round crossover fight.
Initially dubbed as a mismatched fight, Ngannou shocked Fury by flooring him in the third round.
The “Gypsy King” escaped with a split-decision victory.
“He ain’t easy money. He’s a hard night’s work,” Joshua acknowledged.
“And you know what’s crazy? So am I. I’m a hard night’s work for anyone. So let’s go, it’s going to be fireworks.”
