“I think (Paul has) seen (Daniel) DuBois) drop him with the right hand, and say, ‘Oh, I can do that. That’s my shot,” Garcia told Max Kellerman on November 17, 2025.
Incidentally, Garcia was one of several marquee names – the others being Terence Crawford and Francis Ngannou – to fight Paul after Davis withdrew.
However, Garcia had to decline, as he is under contract with DAZN and thus with Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

However, a ringside physician officially allayed those fears, saying that the pairing would not be a total mismatch.
Louis Durkin, president of the Association of Ringside Physicians, says fans should not discount Paul’s skills, which could make for a “good match” in Miami.
“But if you look at the individual fighters, I don’t think it rises to the level of safety concern,” said Durkin, also the chairman of Emergency Medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.
“Now, whether (Paul) deserves a shot at Joshua is a different question,” he added.
