FURY CALLS IT QUITS AGAIN AFTER LOSING TO USYK IN REMATCH

Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) calls it quits again after he lost to Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 21.

Furthemore, the 36-year-old English fighter initially absorbed a split decision setback to the Ukrainian champion on May 18 last year.

Moreover, the twin losses to Usyk were the only defeats in Fury’s storied career.

“I’m going to make this short and sweet, I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing,” Fury said in a video posted on social media.

“It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it and I’m to end with this,” he added.

BOXING WORLD DOUBTS ‘THE GYPSY KING’ DUE TO PREVIOUS RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Moreover, the boxing world doubts the fighter also known as “The Gypsy King” due to his previous multiple retirement announcements in the past.

Furthermore, Fury last told the public of him retiring in April 2022 after beating Dillian Whyte.

However, he would then make sa comeback in December of that same year.

The London native previously announced his retirement in 2013 and 2017 through social media posts.

This made Fury unconvincing to Anthony Joshua’s promoter Hearn, who doubted the former’s statement.

HEARN SAYS RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT ‘A DISAPPOINTMENT FOR BRITISH FANS’

Furthermore, Hearn was disappointed Fury’s latest announcement.

Moreover, the promoter felt sorry for British fans who would’ve hoped for a Joshua-Fury rematch set this year

“But if that is the last we see of jim (Fury), he’s had a great career. I doubt it,” Hearn said.

“It’s disappointing, obviously, for British fight fans because we’ve got a chance to make the biggest fight in boxing,” he added.

The promoter believes Fury only made the announcement to  “get the right deal” for his next possible comeback fight.

“If I was looking for the right deal, I would go into retirement, too,” Hearn said.

“But I can’t speak on his behalf, that’s just I would (do). I think it’s a natural play,” he added.
