CRAWFORD SAYS CANELO ‘MAKES MOST SENSE,’ MONEY, LEGACY OVER ENNIS FIGHT
Furthermore, Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) says facing Canelo “makes most sense,” money, and his legacy over an Ennis fight.
“Where I’m right now, I’m looking at the fight that makes the most sense, and that’s not Boots (Ennis),” Crawford told YouTuber Ariel Helwani on his YouTube channel.
“Canelo’s going to bring way more to my legacy and way more to my bank account,” he added.
Moreover, Crawford will need to move two weight divisions from his current 147 pounds to 168 lbs and face Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) at super middleweight.
Meanwhile, Crawford is busy training for his upcoming fight against Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) on August 3.
TERENCE EYES LEGACY, BANK ACCOUNT THAT LASTS ‘FOR AGES AS WELL’
Moreover, Crawford defended his decision, saying that he gains many things once his boxing career is over.
“Because when boxing is done, what will we have?” Crawford asks.
“I would have a legacy that’s something people talk about for ages. And I would have a bank account that would last for ages as well,” he added.
Furthermore, Crawford is relying on His Excellency Turki Alalshikh to support the Canelo fight with a big payday.
The 37-year-old Crawford stands to earn at least USD20 million from facing Alvarez under the management of Alalshikh, reports said.
On the other hand, Crawford is aware of the risk of facing Ennis (32-0-1, 29 KOs) and a possible defeat if they battle for a world title.
DON’T OVERLOOK BEYOND MADRIMOV FIGHT, TRAINER DIAZ REMINDS CRAWFORD
Meanwhile, Madrimov’s trainer Joel Diaz reminded Crawford not to overlook his fighter less than two weeks before their fight.
Diaz described Madrimov as a “younger, stronger fighter” whom Crawford cannot ignore.
“Now in front of him (Crawford), he has a younger, fighter, stronger fighter and very disciplined (Madrimov),” Diaz told the SmowqueenLA YouTube channel.
“You can watch a video of Israil and give yourself an opinion, but it’s totally different when you’re in the right with him,” he added.
Moreover, Diaz cited his amazement when Madrimov sparred with a 175-pounder in Dmitry Bivol.
“When he’s in the ring, he’s in great control,” the trainer said.
“I’ve seen him in the ring spar Dmitry Bivol when he was getting ready for Canelo, I was amazed. This kid is 154 lbs, and he’s sparring a 175-pounder and he’s doing great,” he added.
