McGregor accused of sexual assault

The lawsuit in Florida alleges that Conor McGregor assaulted a 49-year-old woman during an NBA game at the Miami Heat’s Kaseya Center on June 9, 2023.

She reported the incident two days afterwards.

The woman identifies herself as a senior vice president at a prominent Wall Street financial institution.

Her attorney, James Dunn, stated that she filed the case now because a media outlet leaked her identity.

“After the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office elected not to pursue criminal charges, a civil case is the only avenue that my client has to seek justice in this case,” Mr Dunn said in the emailed statement.

The woman says McGregor grabbed her and forced her into a men’s restroom, where he allegedly assaulted her.

The woman seeks over $75,000 in damages, medical costs, and other compensation.

If she wins the case, the court will decide the exact amount.

McGregor’s camp denies all allegations

Meanwhile, McGregor’s lawyer, Barbara Llanes, states that prosecutors have already determined there isn’t enough evidence for criminal charges.

Llanes describes the woman’s claims as a “new false story” and anticipates the case will be dismissed.

“After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue,” McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, told ESPN.

“Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed,” she added.

McGregor has previously faced serious sexual allegations.

A jury in Dublin, Ireland, found McGregor liable for assaulting a woman and awarded her $257,000.

The Irishman denied the claims and stated he would appeal.
